Throughout this scenographic proposal for James Jarvis ‘s Amos at the New-York Guggenheim, the aim is about the status of the object, the relationship that modern societies maintain with it, in between consumption and sacralization.
Art toys are a rare and precious commodity, a strategic component, a cornerstone for collectors of urban arts.
As the golden calf of modern times, these small statuettes create an installation whose final shape is identical to that of the original object.
The proliferation of these toys invades the museum’s space.
The material is not diverted, it is used to work a movement that then becomes material.
However, the ratio here is placed into abyss. It is an excessive demonstration of fetishism by a pointillist critic of the selected item.
A new realism, embodying through a scenography, the return to the reality of emerging arts.
